  1. My wife & I were camping in the crater of Haleakela Volcano on Maui when
  2. we saw what at first to appeared to be an aircraft or helicopter light.
  3. After watching it for a few minutes we realized it was behaving in a
  4. manner that no aircraft or helicopter is capable of. It followed a series
  5. of left & right-angle angle turns and complete stops, and repeated the
  6. same series of movements all night long. Somehow , we actually managed to
  7. fall asleep with this light doing its thing.
  8. On our way out of the park we mentioned this episode to the park rangers,
  9. and their response was very interesting to us; They said that there have
  10. been other reports of lights in the crater at night. No-one has ever been
  11. able to explain it, although one of the rumors is of secret government
  12. aircraft being tested at night. Another explanation was that what we were
  13. seeing was car headlights from lower on the volcano were reflecting of
  14. some kind of atmospheric inversion. (whatever) One ranger said she had
  15. heard that ufos just happen to like Haleakela.
  16. I am posting this message to ask if anyone else has ever seen lights in
  17. Haleakela, or heard about it before?
